When to use the Imperfect tense/Preterite tense in Spanish?
emma asked:
How do you decide whether to use the Imperfect tense or the Preterite tense in Spanish??
How do you decide whether to use the Imperfect tense or the Preterite tense in Spanish??
Example: Ayer (acostarse, yo)……..(1)……….pronto porque (estar, yo)….(2)….muy cansado.
In the dotted lines/blank space would it be: (1) me acostaba/acosté
(2) estaba/estuve
Any tips on deciding which tense to use??
Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Gracias

This is not something that will be decided by one sentence. If you write to me I’ll help you.
This is the most confusing part of leaning spanish and I know it so I have a paper that I wrote to help and also a U-Tube video to help but I can’t attach either here.
Don’t feel alone. I’m an on-line spanish teacher and I get asked about this at least once a week. It’s not easy and it drives all spanish students just nuts.
